Responsibilities

The Chief of Staff, Office of the Chief Medical Officer, enables the Enterprise CMO and clinical leadership team to translate enterprise clinical priorities into clear decisions, disciplined execution, and measurable follow-through.. This leader manages the operating rhythm for the Office of the CMO, prepares decision-ready materials, coordinates work across clinical and functional teams, and keeps priorities, owners, dependencies, and commitments visible. The role strengthens execution by helping accountable leaders identify trade-offs, resolve dependencies, and advance shared priorities, while clinical and functional executives retain ownership of their decisions, teams, and results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a focused enterprise clinical agenda with owners, milestones, dependencies, resource needs, and measures of success
  • Help the CMO sequence priorities against capacity and defer work that does not support the agreed agenda
  • Prepare planning materials that connect clinical priorities to operating and financial decisions
  • Frame consequential decisions with options, evidence, tradeoffs, risks, and a recommended path
  • Run clinical governance forums, agendas, pre-reads, decision records, and follow-through
  • Coordinate accurate executive and Board materials with the clinical leaders who own the content
  • Advance assigned initiatives across clinical, operations, finance, technology, and People & Culture until a permanent owner or operating process is established
  • Track commitments and resolve or escalate dependencies and delays that threaten results
  • Support urgent clinical or operating work without displacing the established incident or functional leader
  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to the CMO and help the clinical leadership team work through shared priorities
  • Coordinate messages for clinicians, executives, and partners with Communications and Legal
  • Lead and develop the Senior Analyst and other assigned Office of the CMO resources
  • Employees will be required to perform other job-related assignments as requested

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in healthcare strategy, operations, clinical transformation, management consulting, an executive office, or a comparable role
  • Demonstrated success leading complex cross-functional work with senior executives and clinical leaders
  • Exceptional problem framing, synthesis, written communication, and executive presentation skills
  • Strong command of performance management, governance, project and portfolio disciplines, and healthcare economics
  • Ability to handle sensitive information, exercise sound judgment, and challenge senior leaders constructively

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Advanced degree in business, public health, healthcare administration, medicine, nursing, or a related field
  • Prior experience in value-based care, physician-group operations, home-based care, Medicare, or complex-population management
  • Prior consulting, corporate strategy, operating chief of staff, or transformation-office experience
  • Prior experience preparing materials for Boards, investors, payers, or regulators
